Sun-powered Solar Impulse plane crosses Atlantic! This is so very impressive.
The sun-powered Solar Impulse 2 plane arrived safely in Seville, Spain, early Thursday, after a flight across the Atlantic Ocean. The non-stop, 4,000-mile trip began in New York City on Monday and took three days and three nights (71 hours and 8 minutes) to complete.
The Solar Impulse team said this was one of the most challenging legs in its more than year-long trek around the world without using any jet fuel or emitting pollution.
It was the first-ever electric, solar and emission-free transatlantic flight, the Solar Impulse team said.

Happy Summer Break!
Santa Barbara community and government leaders gathered Tuesday May 24th to celebrate the launch of Solarize Santa Barbara— a community-led, group-purchasing program for residential solar electric systems.
Offered by the Community Environmental Council (CEC), Solarize Santa Barbara provides local homeowners the opportunity to go solar at a discounted, group-purchase price from two local solar installers. California Solar Electric is proud to be one of the two installers vetted and chosen by a committee of local experts to provide the service to Santa Barbara residents in Southern Santa Barbara County from Gaviota to Carpinteria over the next three months.
During the Solarize program duration, CEC will host these free educational workshops covering solar technologies, energy efficiency, and financing options. Anyone interested in learning about solar is encouraged to attend:

We Are #MillionSolarStrong
Sometime around the end of February, the millionth solar installation came on-line in the United States — a milestone that says as much about where the solar industry is going as it does about how far the industry has come.
“It took us 40 years to get to 1 million installations, and it will take us only two years to get to 2 million,” said Dan Whitten, vice president of communications at the Solar Energy Industries Association #SEIA. “This is a time to mark when the solar industry started to accelerate at warp speed.”
2015 was a record year in the solar industry–and California led the way! Did you know:
-Approximately one in three solar employees work in California
– California boasts more workers in solar than in the state’s five largest utility companies combined
– Over 75,000 workers proudly call solar their industry
– Since 2012 half the states in the country have at least doubled their solar workforce
– Nationwide, the total number of solar industry jobs increased to almost 209,000 workers.
From the California Solar Electric family, we hope you and yours have had a satisfying year and are looking forward to a brilliant 2016.
…Speaking of brilliant…does your 2016 look sunny and powerful? Is it green and good for the environment around you? If you were on the fence about solar in 2015, with the sweeping wins our industry had in December in maintaining huge advantages of solar electricity such as net metering and income tax credits, this is the perfect time to add this benefit to you new year’s resolution list!
